INDICATION: Proceed

Approach Medium
INDICATION: Proceed approaching next signal at medium speed
Rule 283
Medium Clear
INDICATION: Proceed medium speed within interlocking limits, or through
non-interlocked switches immediately beyond the signal. Block clear.
Rule 283A
Medium Approach Medium
INDICATION: Proceed at medium speed approaching next signal at medium speed.
Rule 283B
Medium Approach Slow
INDICATION: Proceed at medium speed approaching next signal at slow speed.
Rule 284
Approach slow
INDICATION: Proceed, approaching next signal at slow speed. Train exceeding medium speed must at once
reduce to that speed.
Rule 285
Approach
INDICATION: Proceed, preparing to stop at next signal, and be governed by indication
displayed by that signal. Train exceeding medium speed must at once
reduce to that speed.

Medium Approach
INDICATION: Proceed at medium speed, preparing to stop at next signal and be governed by the indication displayed by that signal.

Slow clear
INDICATION: Proceed at slow speed, approaching next signal at slow speed.

Permissive
INDICATION: Block occupied. Proceed prepared to stop short of train ahead. In automatic block territory,
